Mrs. Ostendorf: Multi-Age (2nd-5th Grade) Teacher
Born into a northern Minnesota Scandinavian family, Mrs. Ostendorf has pursued higher education from well-known colleges and universities in Minnesota, Iowa, Wyoming, Utah, and Alaska. Early in her career she taught in a multi-age classroom with two grades in one classroom. Since then, she has taught language, speech, and theatre. Mrs. Ostendorf has taught students from kindergarten to college, with the college focus involving public speaking and debate. As a foreign exchange student coordinator and host, Mrs. Ostendorf’s family sponsored ex-change students from Denmark, Germany, France, Croatia, and Thailand.
While at American Charter Academy, Mrs. Ostendorf has worked in a multi-age classroom and has implemented after school programs including Magic Pen, Made for the Stage, Readers Theatre, Reading Instruction, and Academic Tutoring. Working in a classroom of superstars, Mrs. Ostendorf has enjoyed how AMC students learn beyond their years in a family-like setting. One of Mrs. Ostendorf's favorite quotes remains, “Live a life full of humility, gratitude, intellectual curiosity, and never stop learning.”
