Mrs. mcelvain: student opportunities associate (soa)
Mrs. Erin McElvain was born and raised in Iowa and attended the University of Iowa. After graduating from college, she moved to the mountains in Colorado to work at a ski resort. This is where she met her future husband. Eventually Mrs. McElvain traded the Rockies for the mountains of Alaska and has lived in Alaska since 2005. She has two children, Caleb and Kylor, who both attended AMC from kindergarten through 8th grade. Mrs. McElvain’s began working at AMC as a Student Opportunities Associate in 2015.
Mrs. McElvain is one of AMC’s testing coordinators and attends district training so she can help the school prepare for MAP, AimsWeb, and AK Star tests. She has worked in both the multi-age and primary prep classrooms over the years which involves teaching elementary specials such as Art, P.E., and Positive Action. There is no place she would rather be than AMC. She loves that the kids put a smile on her face every day! When she is not in the classroom or at her kids’ activities, Mrs. McElvain loves to spend time skiing with her family in both Alaska and Colorado. In the summer, she enjoys spending time boating and exploring the many lakes in the area or floating down a river on their raft.
